This month we are starting a 100 Acts of Kindness Project (idea from here) and we want you to join us!
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, "Everybody can be great... because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love."
We plan to spend the next month encouraging our kids to serve others and be more kind (something we are always working on at our houses-- especially the moms! :)).
So how will our 100 Acts of Kindness Project work? What do you need to do?
1. Decide that you want to accept the challenge to work with your family or students to accomplish 100 acts of kindness between January 17th and February 14th. Comment on this post and let us know that you are committed to the challenge.
Kindness acts can be as simple as your child picking up his toys without you asking... and as big as participating in a community or church service project.
2. Come up with a way to record each act of kindness (sticky note on chart, tally mark on a heart, crossed x on a calendar... whatever works for you and your family/students). We will be doing something on a big chart or else I will totally forget!
3. Participate in each weekly Kindness Challenge that we post. We will post the first one later today. Challenges may involve creating a craft with your child and giving it to someone, dropping off treats for a neighbor, or just smiling and saying hello to people at the supermarket. They won't be too hard, but they'll be a great way to help teach your child to look outside of herself and serve/help others.
4. Join us in celebrating your success with a kindness celebration on Valentine's Day, February 14th. EJ and I will each be hosting our own kindness celebrations on opposite sides of the country and we'd love you to do the same.
So, will you join us?

This is a wonderful idea, I dont think we will make it to 100, but any number is better than 0, and it will be a good focus.
