Exciting News at Toddler Approved!

Hi folks,

If you are new to Toddler Approved, WELCOME!! If you've been following along for awhile, you rock! So glad you are here! I am Kristina, the founder of the Toddler Approved blog. I am a mom and former teacher. You can read more about our site HERE.

Many of you pop in from Pinterest and Facebook from time to time and don't actually know too much about my family or that there is even a person behind the Toddler Approved blog and Facebook page!

(our latest attempt at a family photo... I was stoked that at least everyone was looking at the camera... even though everyone looks like they are in pain. lol)

My Toddler Approved team consists of three crazy kiddos (ages 2,4,7) and my awesome husband. That's it. We don't have a large staff managing things but we do LOVE finding time in our busy days to share our favorite activities, crafts, and parenting ideas with you on the blog and daily on social media. Thank YOU for being part of our community here on the blog, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, or wherever!!

Today we have pretty exciting news!! We have a new little one that will be joining our Toddler Approved team in January 2016!

My 2-year-old (who turns 3 in October) is super duper excited and has been telling EVERYONE our news. We'll find out if it is a boy or a girl in about a month. I can't wait!

As I get adjusted to this new pregnancy you may find that I blog in spurts based on my energy levels. Running around after three crazy kids and being pregnant can be exhausting some days. :)

I won't bore you too much with pregnancy things but would LOVE to hear any pregnancy advice you have or things you have learned as your families have grown! I find with each kid that I feel like I am starting from scratch because I always forget so much! Hope I can learn from you all!

What are the best tips you've received when pregnant? Worst tips?

  1. Woohoo! That's such exciting news, Kristina!!! And I love this photo of your family...so warm and sweet like you. I hope you'll take it a bit easier and enjoy this delightfully chaotic time in your life. Or as my mentor Magda Gerber used to say, "Do less, enjoy more!"

  2. With two young kids (4, 2) and one arriving in September, the most helpful thing I've learned to emphasize this time around is to talk to my kids about the new baby frequently to start their adjustment process as well as to foster cooperation and empathy for me and the baby. When I praise my kids if I catch them playing nicely, I ask how they would be excited to let their new little brother join in their game later. When we are learning new things, I ask how they think they could teach it to their little brother. And I explain my own limits to them frequently since it's hard to rest with 2 kids around- when I really need to sit down, eat, or opt out of an activity, I explain how "brother ate all of my food," or "I can't walk on all fours with you when brother is in my belly."

  3. How exciting! Congratulations. :)

  4. So excited for you Kristina and family! Congratulations! I know your kids will have such fun adding a new member to their family. Can't wait to follow along as your family grows.

  5. This is such exciting news! I wish you luck and a lot of grace as your family grows to include one more. I only have one of my own, but I nannied and cared for many over the years. Enjoy the moments you can, forgive those you can't, and take all the time you need to be with your family. Will will always be here enjoying what you share. :)

  6. Congratulations! So exciting!!!!!!
