As the 100 Acts of Kindness Project wraps up for this year, I have been reflecting on what I've learned and what I've taught my two little ones. I think the kindness challenge has really impacted how I interact with my children and how they relate to one another. I've been focusing on the old adage, "Water the flowers, not the weeds..." and it has been remarkable to see how much kinder my children have become as I have focused on their positive interactions with one another. I thought tonight I'd share a few of the ways we've learned to be kind to younger siblings at our house.
1. Read books together and let the littlest one pick what you read.
2. Help make their favorite meal.
3. Make up silly games to keep them happy when you're doing boring stuff (like grocery shopping).
4. Create a special picture just for them.
5. Build block towers and then let little ones knock them down (without getting mad).
6. Share your treats.
7. Let them play with one of your special toys.
8. Find ways to make them giggle.
9. Teach them how to do things that are hard for them (like taking off shoes and cleaning up).
10. Give lots of hugs and kisses!
What else would you add? How do your children show kindness to their siblings?

This is really lovely. Thankyou. We have two boys, two and a half and one, we mostly just try and share toys and have lots of cuddles. I think we'll look at playing through all of the above! Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteThis is brilliant every day as J and T get bigger I start to see him do some of the things with T above. At the moment they are 2 and a half and 11 months and we're at the stage of making her giggle.
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up to Tuesday Tots
