Last week we spent a lot of time at parks with friends and going on bug and acorn hunts. I bought the kids each a bug catcher from the Target Dollar Spot and they've been catching snails and earwigs and all sorts of other things. We also did a few bug and Spring themed activities that I am excited to share with you over the next week.
When we weren't outside hunting bugs, we tried out a few activities from some favorite bloggers that I am excited to share with you!
My toddler hasn't done much with patterns yet, so I introduced her to Learn with Play at Home activity's learning patterns with Lego. We did a simple ABAB pattern and talked about the colors of the Legos. She has a long ways to go before this is an independent activity, but Legos were fun materials to explore with!

We play with cars and trucks everyday and my toddler likes to walk around with a handful of vehicles, so when I suggested a car game she was ready to play immediately! She loved matching the letters of her name while we did this simple parking garage name activity we found at Growing Book by Book. We played it again and again and again.

We also had a blast exploring our new BabbaBox for April. The theme was birds and the kids enjoyed building a bird nest from clay, straw, and wood as well as painting a bird house. We also got Feathers for Lunch by Lois Ehlert in this month's box. We LOVE Lois Ehlert and are so excited to add a new book to our library.
We are big advocates of BabbaCo's BabbaBoxes... so if you are interested in checking them out too, just click on the image below. If you want to read more about the Babbabox, my post, BabbaBox: A Cool Learning Tool for Kids is a great place to start.
Last week we also played with these awesome Stampers that my mom sent to the kids. All 50 stamps kept them busy and having fun creating while I made dinner.
Looking ahead to next week we are excited to focus a little bit more on bugs as well as numbers, rhyming words, and simple math activities. Here are a few of the activities and crafts we are going to be trying out...
