Your Reaction to Adversity

The past month has been a sad one for me personally. This week I've kind of felt like saying, "Today is cancelled, go back to bed!"

I've thought about this quote a lot and have been pretty disappointed with how I've been reacting lately to life. My grieving for a friend's loss of her first baby has left me emotionally spent and less than patient or kind to my sweet kids.

Today I am unplugging a bit and plan to change that. My August Toddler Approved Newsletter is going to be sent out late and I'm just going to do what I should've been doing all week long... hug my kids close, be grateful for every moment with them, find some more ways to serve and love my friend, and probably cry a lot more...

I also get to take the fun pregnancy glucose test. :) Wish me luck.

Enjoy your day and I'll see you back tomorrow!

  2. I'm so sorry for your friend's loss. I lost my first son when I was 30 weeks pregnant with him and it is the most painful, unnatural feeling in the world. What a blessing my close friend was to me at that time. Please know that you being there for your friend is absolutely invaluable and your friendship will be a huge help to her in these dark days. And, you're absolutely right, we do need to hold our children close and hug them tight-- their life is such a blessing.

    1. Thanks so much for sharing Krista and for your thoughts and advice and sympathy. I hope I can do something that is helpful... or at least avoid doing anything that makes her more sad. Every child is a miracle and such a blessing... I need cherish them even more.

  3. I know how your friend feels. l lost many babies from 3months to 5 months before l managed to keep my fist child. She was a twin and lost her brother at just over 5 months. I now have 2 healthy 35 and 36 year old children! Your friend is lucky to have you a friend. Just be there for her to talk too, cry with and eventually laugh withxxxxlynda
