Stringing Stars

Wanted to come up with a simple (and quick) activity to celebrate Flag Day - remembered how much fun the kids had stringing hearts and flowers . . . so thought "stringing stars" would be the perfect project.

Materials Needed: Felt in patriotic colors (red, white & blue), scissors, shoelace, yarn or ribbon

Follow the steps below:

Not only is this a great activity to develop fine motor skills, but sequencing, color recognition and counting.

When finished, take the stars off and repeat the activity, or finish off the ends (by tying knots) and display as a garland.

  1. So cute! I always see stringing activities that work with beads, but I'm still a little nervous about swallowing/choking. I'll try this out and as an added bonus we will have garlands for decoration!
